Risk of Rain 2’s Scorched Acres update is available as of this writing, so if you want to unlock Rex for yourself, go ahead and get at it while the getting’s good.Rhiner (orphan_account) Fandoms: Risk of Rain (Video Game) Rex also recovers some health for every enemy Tangling Growth hits. When used, Tangling Growth consumes 25 percent of Rex’s current health and fires a large flower that roots and heavily damages all nearby enemies. Lastly, Rex’s ultimate attack is Tangling Growth.
The shockwave pushes Rex back if he’s airborne and applies the Weaken debuff to all enemies it hits. For his mobility maneuver, Rex can deploy DIRECTIVE: Disperse which emits a wide sonic shockwave.
Rex’s secondary attack is Seed Barrage, a high-damage mortar which can be manually aimed, but also costs 15 percent of Rex’s current health with each use. If the last syringe in a salvo hits an enemy, it inflicts the Weaken debuff and heals Rex for 30 percent of the damage dealt. As for his primary attack, DIRECTIVE: Inject, Rex fires a salvo of three syringes at distant enemies. His passive ability, Natural Toxins, makes it so that all of his attacks have a chance to inflict the Weaken debuff on enemies, reducing their movement speed, armor, and damage. Rex’s Abilitiesīeing a robot/plant hybrid, Rex has both cybernetic and biological abilities at his disposal. If you can successfully bring the Fuel Array to Rex in the Abyssal Depth and slot it into his body, you’ll complete the Power Plant challenge and unlock him as a playable character for future runs. If you’re playing multiplayer, though, you can just grab a Fuel Array from one of your teammates’ pods. Also, if you’re playing solo, you sadly cannot use MUL-T even if you’ve unlocked him since the large crate he starts in doesn’t have a Fuel Array. This essentially means that the player has to work through four separate stages and hopefully find the randomized location of Rex’s body in the Abyssal Depths while also making sure they take as little damage as possible.įinding items that restore health or block damage will naturally help with completing the Power Plant challenge. This detonation will instantly kill the player no matter how much HP they have remaining. If the player’s HP ever falls to 50 percent of its maximum or lower, the Fuel Array will detonate. Unfortunately for the player, the Fuel Array is a bit unstable. Complicating matters further is the nature of the Fuel Array item itself. The unconscious Rex can be found in Risk of Rain 2’s fourth stage, the Abyssal Depths, but of course the exact location of his body is randomized during each new run.
To complete the Power Plant challenge, you have to take the Fuel Array item from the pod you crash-land in at the start of your run and carry it all the way down to Rex’s shutdown body. In theory, completing the Power Plant challenge is pretty straightforward, but thanks to Risk of Rain 2’s randomized mechanics, it can be surprisingly difficult even if you know what you’re doing. In this case, unlocking Rex requires that the player complete the new ‘Power Plant’ challenge that was added in the Scorched Acres update. Much like Risk of Rain 2’s other unlockable characters, Rex is tied to a specific in-game challenge.
